I’m trying to discover how to grow taller. It’s a “tall order,” believe me. There’s so much hype out there on the web. Statements like, “grow as much as 6 inches in 6 months or double your money back,” just seem too fantastic to be believed. Is any of this for real?

I’ve grown so leery of these websites trying to convince me to part with my hard-earned money for the promise of something that almost always sounds too good to be true. Headlines like “DESPERATE FOR HEIGHT?”… “SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER”… and, “NEVER FEEL INSECURE ABOUT YOUR HEIGHT AGAIN”… are catchy enough, but mostly serve just to make me feel worse about me being vertically challenged. I guess their purpose is to give me hope, to prime the pump, so to speak. One site I just looked at states, “In the long run studies show that every additional inch of height increases your chances for financial success as well as relationships with the opposite sex!” Well, that sounds great! If I try this program I’ll be richer AND sexier.

Here’s the good news. Growing taller after passing puberty actually IS possible and there are some documented successes that can also be found. There’s a particular support group for short persons out there that has compiled an impressive amount of data detailing what works and what doesn’t work and their information looks both unbiased and credible.

The point is this.

If your desire is to grow taller it CAN be done, but there is no magic bullet and you do need to follow a guide such as this to get results, check it out:

Shorter people everywhere have suffered the consequences of their diminutive statures. Spending your life having to look up to others while they’re looking down on you can be uncomfortable and frustrating, to say the least. They say first impressions count. How many times has a vertically challenged guy approached a lady he finds attractive only to be rebuffed or dismissed, due simply to his height? It happens too many times, unfortunately. But it’s a fact of life.

True, it’s not fair for someone to judge you based solely on your size, but it’s the way of the world. Taller people just naturally command more respect. It’s the law of the jungle. The big dog is the boss dog. You know what I mean? If you’re a short guy, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Not only is height a great determinant in how you’re treated socially… it creeps into many career situations as well. There’s a reason why most managerial positions are filled by taller men. A company wants to be represented by someone impressive in appearance. Again, not fair, but that’s the way it is. It might even be an unconscious choice on the part of the one deciding on a promotion, but it’s there nonetheless.

These are just a couple of the problems facing people of lesser height. There are many. But hearing all of this probably won’t be helping you in your self-image, and that’s another one, right there. It’s hard to look and act confident and ‘in charge’ when people are just naturally looking down on you as a person. The list goes on and on.

But forget all that. Put it out of your mind. There’s only one thing you need to concentrate on right now, and it’s this. YOU DON’T HAVE TO be or feel small anymore. Doctors and growth therapists have, for years, been quietly helping people add inches to their height, painlessly, easily and successfully. And what a difference just a few inches can make!

There are several programs now available to help you reach your goal of increased height. Some are better than others, but most all concentrate on just a few simple areas. These include diet, supplementation, sleep, posture attitude and exercise. All these things, when understood and utilized properly, will combine into a powerful force for successful height increase.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve already passed what you consider your growth stage – the time when your growth plates fuse and you stopped growing. Even then, it’s still very possible for you to add inches and get taller. It’s worked for thousands and it can work for you, too. Seriously.

Here’s some great news for people who always wished they were taller! After more than a decade of scientific investigation, it has been proven that a person’s height IS NOT solely dependent upon the DNA passed down to them at birth. In fact, scientists have, through research and experimentation, learned that, while a person’s genes ARE responsible for determining his or her height POTENTIAL, almost all adults quit growing somewhere between 2 and 6 inches below this POTENTIAL.

In other words, if you are shorter than you would like to be, it’s entirely possible to increase your stature by several inches and reach your true height potential. This is no pie in the sky.

There are, as with most things, scams abounding relating to “growing taller”, such as miracle drugs and wonder-pills. However, there now exists a large base of scientific data proving that, not only is it possible to increase your height by 2 to 6 inches within a relatively short period of time, but that these height-increasing programs are also beneficial to one’s overall health and well-being. The easiest and most successful of these programs concern themselves with 4 major areas to be addressed. They are the following:

DIET

It’s not only important to consider the quantity and quality of the food we eat, but to make sure we consume all of the various nutrients required by our bodies to maximize our potentials. These include: vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and water.

EXERCISE

It’s important, to meet your height potential, to perform regular exercises, which will strengthen your core muscles, improve your posture and increase the levels of growth hormones your body creates. There are also exercises designed specifically to strengthen and enlarge the discs that separate the vertebrae in our spinal columns, which will naturally cause one to become taller.

POSTURE

Poor posture can rob inches from one’s potential height and is common in our society. Proper posture will not only increase one’s height, but will create numerous other physical and psychological benefits.

SLEEP HABITS

Not only is it important to consider when and how much you sleep, but also HOW you sleep. Certain positions are beneficial, while some are detrimental. Our bodies need enough quality rest to give them a chance to recuperate from the trials of the day. Proper recuperation is essential to realizing our height potentials.

Is it possible to increase your height by three or four inches, or more? Absolutely! Does it require the pain and expense of bone-breaking surgeries? Definitely not! Is it easy? Pretty much. Is it worth it? You decide, and let me know how it goes…

Fifty-two and still 5 foot 2?

That was Mom’s dilemma. She’d stopped growing years before and felt destined to live the rest of her life as a “shorty,” but then learned she didn’t have to. There WAS a way to increase her height and change her life for the better… several ways, in fact. Here’s what she found.

She could try meditation or self-hypnosis. She looked into this and learned that growing taller through hypnosis has a very low success rate. It seems that first you have to become a “believer” or it’ll never work. Mom didn’t believe it.

There are lots of herbs, creams, pills and supplements that claim their use will increase one’s height. Actually, I think Mom secretly tried a couple of these, but to no avail. No success with the magic potions.

There was a new program out there, supposedly from NASA, that’s guaranteed to make you taller or double your money back. Hmm. I thought those NASA Astronauts were SUPPOSED to be small! Who knows? The sales pitch online for this one was too long and convoluted and I don’t think Mom ever got through this one. The pitchman says he could easily sell this one for just under a thousand dollars, that the launch price was just under $200, however, for Mom it would only be $47. She never made it that far in the presentation, though, so I guess that one was out too.

We talked about having some bone-breaking surgeries to increase the length of her legs, but pain was never her thing and the price tag runs into the tens of thousands of dollars. What next?

I started Googling for her and actually found some info that looked promising. Some of this stuff was sounding pretty scientific. We learned about growth plates and invertebral discs and human growth hormone. There are common foods out there that, when added to the diet, actually stimulate growth. There are specific exercises that can be done to help the body come closer to reaching its growth potential. Posture is also important in increasing one’s stature and I soon realized the old adages of sitting up straight and keeping one’s shoulders back when standing are good advice. And then there’s sleep. Not only do we need to get enough sleep to be healthy and to realize our physical potentials, but we also need to sleep in the proper manner. Some sleep positions actually stimulate growth, while some are detrimental. Good information!

We even discovered some ways to look taller, even though one’s height hasn’t really been changed. These include shoes with lifts and clothes with colors and patterns that give the illusion of increased stature. I think Mom kind of likes the idea a getting a new wardrobe. Ha Ha. No surprise there!

I’ve suffered broken bones in my body four times in my life and, each time, it really HURT. Twice it was an arm and twice it was a finger. Never were these breaks done on purpose… each time was the result of some type of accident, whether it was falling out of a tree (oops) or improperly using a table-saw (big oops).

Recently, I’ve done some reading about individuals who have purposely elected to go through the time and torture of having their leg bones broken and then mechanically stretched so that, when the bones grow back together they’ll be lengthened. All this time, trouble, pain and expense is incurred for the purpose of growing a few inches taller in height. It seems like a lot to go through in order to increase one’s physical stature but, apparently, for some, it’s worth it.

Besides the expense of having one of these bone-lengthening procedures, which can run upwards of $40,000, there is also a great deal of pain associated with having the leg bones broken and then stretched. And, from what I’ve read, pain-killing medications are not advisable during the procedure, as they prevent the bones from healing properly. The whole process, including recuperation, can take six months or more, during which time the patient is not able to walk and is wheelchair bound. Seems like a lot to go through to add a couple of inches, doesn’t it? Well, like they say, no pain – no gain.

Another well-documented method for increasing one’s height is along the same lines as the medical bone-lengthening process discussed above but it’s not a medical procedure carried out in a hospital but can be accomplished at home, without the need for invasive medical intervention.

With this method, the bones are still broken, essentially, but the breaks are merely micro-fractures. This is accomplished through engaging in some high-stress exercises, such as running on a hard surface (like asphalt or concrete) at high speeds for extended periods of time. It’s called sprinting and it’s tough to do but, if done properly, will cause small fractures in the leg bones.

After the high-stress exercise, you then go to bed and strap heavy weights to your ankles, which serve to stretch out the legs as the body does its job in healing the micro-fractures you’ve created. Apparently, after all that exercise you’ll have no trouble sleeping for the 10-14 hours recommended. This is when your body does its self-healing thing. Part of this method includes consuming lots of calcium in your daily diet, like drinking half a gallon of milk each day. The body needs all that extra calcium for proper bone regeneration.

There are other methods for growing taller, but we’ve discussed two ways here that are both fairly well documented. One thing can be said about both. A person must have a great deal of desire and stamina for these programs to work. And remember… no pain, no gain.
